Two Years Ago Today

November 22, 2010 was a very good day.  A day we'd been waiting for, for almost a decade.  It was the day we first saw the faces of our beloved second and third children:  Seth Asrat; and Lizzie Senait.  They were so beautiful and so very, very tiny.

Just today, when I was telling the kids about how special this day was two years ago, Lizzie looked at the referral pictures of herself and Seth - I keep them on the fridge.

"We look so sad in those pictures," she said.  Indeed, they did.  "But not any more, Mommy," she continued.  True to herself, she ran over to me, crawled into my lap to hug me, and whispered fervently "I love you, Mama."

Life is certainly very, very different now than it was two years ago.  We've been together as a family for almost eighteen months, and I can hardly believe how quickly the time has passed by already!  There have been hard times, many challenges, and a whole lot of joy.  I  am very thankful to be able to spend my days with my kids and to know them as well as I do.  Each of them is a dream come true for me, the answer to many prayers, the outflow of an ocean of tears of longing.  I remember the first time I saw the faces of each of my children, the first time I kissed their faces, the first time I cuddled with them in bed and held them close to my heart.

Many years ago, the dream began.  Two years ago, another piece fell into place.  Today, we're living it!
