Matthew Lovin' His Mom

A few weeks ago, I was out gallivanting with a friend for an evening, so it was Geoff who put Matthew to bed that night, and who lay down with him for a while.  Apparently, Matthew really, really wanted me to be with him that evening instead of Geoff, because he kept composing little rhymes about me.  Here are a few of his compositions:

#1:
"I love chocolate
I love gum
I really really really really
Miss. my. mom!"

#2:
"I don't want chocolate
I don't want gum.
All I really want
is my mom mom mom."

#3.
Moms, moms, moms are great,
Moms are better than chocolate cake.

#4.
I like chocolate, I like gum,
But all I really want is my good ol' mom.

This is saying a lot for a kid who adores chocolate, cake, and gum...though I wish he'd left off the reference to me being old!  Geoff asked him if he'd give up chocolate cake for his mom, and Matthew said that yes, he'd even give up chocolate cake with icing to be with me at that moment.  Geoff then asked if he'd give up chocolate cake for him (never ask a question that you don't want an honest answer to).  Matthew hemmed and hawed and then finally said that he'd give up chocolate cake for his dad if it had no icing, but for his mom, he'd give up chocolate cake with icing.  Sigh.  How sweet.
