Conversation with Matthew yesterday in the van:
Matthew: "Mom, what would you like to do when we get home?"
Me: "Hmm. Not sure - any ideas?"
Matthew: "Well, I'd like to do whatever you want to do for the rest of the day. I'd like to make you happy."
Me: "Wow. Well, that's a very lovely thought, Matthew, but you know, I hope, that you're not responsible for making me happy. Besides, you just being who you are is just exactly enough to make me the happiest mom on earth."
Matthew: "Yeah, yeah, I know all of that stuff. I don't need to make you happy, blah blah blah. But we're family and we take care of each other. And I love you with more than my whole heart, up to the moon and back, more than anything except for God."
What can one possibly add to a most perfect mommy moment!?? Besides, I need to record this, in case I need to remind myself of it, oh, about a decade from now. How I love that boy!
