Most selfies, at least these days, are intended to show the most flattering image of the person possible, and photos are often altered digitally to accomplish this purpose.
I have to say that there have been many, many selfie pictures that I've seen posted on f/book that have had me cringing on behalf of the poster; they seem like such an obvious attempt to demonstrate one's (self perceived) attractiveness while simultaneously trying to appear casual about it. You know the ones I'm talking about.
So...in an attempt at humour...to counteract the trend of posting self-flattering photos, I hereby post several unflattering selfies! No make-up, in my pajamas, intended to copy some of the poses I've seen on f/book. Enjoy them at my expense!
ooh la lah! Just look at this beauty! This picture is Seth's favourite!

The ever-popular pouty selfie shot!

What a treat to behold this loveliness!

After having my hair styled by all three kids! I think that the lighting is a little too flattering in this shot to represent me entirely fairly...and I may be wearing eyeliner in this one...ahh, the shock and the horror.

Another selfie pose I've seen surprisingly often. Definitely not one of the more flattering images of me!

The last two I'm providing at Matthew's request...he took these pictures and wanted to show off my newly pink-streaked hair. Shall I toss those plaits back over my shoulder for a true selfie look?

I don't know, Ruth, these selfies look pretty flattering to me! You're quite photogenic!
ReplyDeleteYou look like a happy kid! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the poses! You are very photogenic! The hair whip ones are fab :-)
ReplyDeleteThx guys! Despite trying to be goofy, I do look better in these pictures than in real life...one can't see all of my wrinkles and bags on the photos as much as in real life!
ReplyDeleteHeidi, I think there IS a kid inside of me!
Hugs,
Ruth
My goodness, you are one of those true beauties, inside and out. They made me giggle, but a touch envious too, those eyes! The hair whip was great. I'm totally guilty of trying to be facebook pretty. However, I try to keep sultry-kissy faces private. Wearing glasses, I look like some sad, chubby excuse for a naughty librarian. :)
ReplyDeleteKeep it fun, Ruth, it looks good on you! -Charity
ha ha, Charity. I'm no beauty, but you're very sweet to say so!! Thanks for the morale boost, and for the laugh!!
