The Boys' Bedroom

I realized just yesterday that I haven't posted pictures of the kids' bedrooms...my apologies.  Here are the pictures of the boys' bedroom...Matthew and Seth A. share a room.

(below)
My Dad and Geoff built out the boys' closet with shelving (a few weeks before we left for Ethiopia), so that we could take the dresser out of the room and create more floor space for beds and shelving.

Here's the finished closet space.  The boys each have their own side of the closet, and the smaller middle section is for toys that they can share (lego, etc).  The upper shelves are mine, to store other stuff of theirs.

The new slatted bed frames, assembled in the bare room.

We had organic wool mattresses custom made for the kids' beds.  Because Matthew went from a double to a single bed, we had the mattress people take his old, larger, wool mattress and recycle all parts of it for the two twin mattresses (and add more to them as needed).  This is Matthew before we left for Ethiopia, on the day the mattresses were delivered, determined to lug both mattresses up the stairs by himself...and they're awkward and heavy.  He did it!

The comfy finished beds...ready for sheets and blankets.

The trunk of the van after a last minute trip to the U.S. to visit Pottery Barn Kids, IKEA, Target, etc etc.

Ta da...the finished boys' room.  Matthew's bed is on the left, and his 'private' shelving unit is at the foot of his bed.  Seth A. has the bed on the right, and we'll work on filling his shelving unit over time.  This picture was taken before we left for Ethiopia; Seth A. has already, slowly, begun to put a few things on his shelving (stuff/toys/treasures that he has been hoarding in his backpack until now)

Matthew's corner of the world!

Here's the real finished room - this was taken on our first night at home, with Geoff and Seth A. conked out together!!

Tomorrow I'll post pictures of Lizzie S.'s room, if you're interested.
