Looks a Bit DIsgusting, but it Tastes Good...Honest

About three or four times a week, Matthew and I make a fruit smoothie for breakfast, to go along with a piece of toast.  We like to experiment with different fruit mixtures, but we always start with a base of bananas, berries and yogurt, and at least two powdered components.  This morning's concoction, while rather muddy brown in colour (and a little off-putting!), was really very delicious.

Here's what we threw into the blender:
  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas (which is why the smoothie was brown!)
  • Almost 2 cups of frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • Most of a mango, sliced
  • 7 kale leaves (ribs removed)
  • About a cup of yogurt
  • Almost a cup of pomegranate juice
  • About 2 Tbsp freshly ground flax
  • 1 Scoop of Greens+ for kids (the equivalent of 7 servings of veggies, in dehydrated format)
  • 1 Scoop of Phyto Berry powder (about 15 types of dehydrated berries, plus a bunch of plant and seed extracts)

All in all, today's recipe got a thumb's up...we each drank just over a glass full to polish it off!

  1. Wow, that smoothie packs a powerful punch! Why do you take the powders?

  2. Yummy! I've also added spinach and it blends up just great - to liquid.
